Carnmore Aviation Ltd in bid to continue operating at Galway Airport, Carnmore, Co. Galway, Ireland

Carnmore Aviation Limited says discontinuing the current aviation services at Galway Airport would be ‘criminal.’

The company’s aerodrome license, refueling licence and agreement with Galway City and County Councils comes to an end on December 15th.

Carnmore Aviation says since aviation resumed in January, 58 private jets have landed at the airport, and the air corps and coastguard have refueled there over 40 times.

In addition, hotels and multinational companies based in Galway use the airport for their guests.

The company says it’s currently in discussions about extending its current agreement so it can continue to provide these services out of Carnmore.

John Madden of Carnmore Aviation Limited says a new agreement proposed by the local authorities is not viable for the company.

Speaking to Keith Finnegan, he said it would be ‘criminal’ to let the airport fall into ruin.
