Congressman Robert Pittenger and other members of the Charlotte-area delegation are hoping a third letter they sent Friday to the Federal Aviation Administration will break the logjam around the question of who will run Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Charlotte City Council wants to keep oversight of the airport. Republican state legislators want a commission to run it.
The N.C. General Assembly passed a bill Tuesday meant to answer the FAA’s questions about a new commission meant to run the airport. The FAA has declined to rule on whether the commission can run Charlotte Douglas.
“They can no longer ‘kick the can,’ but must assume their legally-mandated responsibilities and take action now,” said Pittenger. Ely Portillo
