AeroVenture Institute hosts Free Fly Day at Southbridge Municipal Airport (3B0) this weekend

SOUTHBRIDGE — The AeroVenture Institute will be taking people to the sky to experience small-plane flying with free introductory flights on Saturday, June 21.

The free flights at the Southbridge Municipal Airport offer a chance to experience the area from the sky for 10 to 15 minutes. The flights will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those interested must call the flight school at (774) 287-4180 to reserve a flight. Two passengers are allowed on per flight.

The company recently changed its name to the AeroVenture Institute as it made the move from the Worcester Regional Airport to the Southbridge Municipal Airport. The organization also runs STEM programs with Worcester companies and the EcoTarium that encourage students to look to careers in flight.

AVI will be expanding in Southbridge with additional flight and aerospace instructors, four airplanes, a glider program, an FAA-certified Flight Simulator and more flight and aerospace training programs.

In the event of cancellation due to weather, the flight schedule will be moved to June 22.
