Yukon crash survivors sue helicopter company; Horizon Helicopters rotorcraft crashed in high winds on mountain near Carcross

The two survivors of a helicopter crash near Carcross, Yukon, two years ago are suing the helicopter company.

The helicopter crashed July 10, 2012, about 10 kilometres east of Carcross, on the north side of Nares Lake near Nares Mountain.

The pilot was killed in the crash. Passengers Jonathan Postma and Raphael Roy-Jauvin suffered injuries.

The two men were conducting aerial surveys for the Yukon Government.

Documents filed in Yukon Supreme Court allege the company, Horizon Helicopters, was negligent in its operations. They say high winds were in the forecast the day of the crash and company officials knew the helicopter had a history of problems flying in rough weather.

Both men are seeking unspecified compensation.
