1975 Learjet 35 to Be Auctioned Off at Upcoming Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach, Florida

The World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions to Offer One-of-a-Kind Classic Aircraft During Sale on Saturday, April 6

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, Mar 29, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Vintage, restored airplanes may be nothing new for Barrett-Jackson, but the stunning 1975 Learjet 35 Fixed-Winged Jet (Lot #770) that will be offered up for sale on Saturday, April 6 at the upcoming 11th annual Palm Beach auction will certainly be a sight to see. The magnificent aircraft will be presented by one of the nation's premier air-ambulance services, Angel MedFlight, which operates a small fleet of Learjets for globally transporting patients.

The completely-restored Learjet is fully refurbished with a $2.6 Million renovation and has the latest technology from the ground up. It is modernized as a usable aircraft for the most demanding travel assignments and is capable of operating all over the globe, while complying with any and all regulatory requirements abroad. The interior is complete with brand new leather seating and executive-class stylings, evoking a sense of luxury and prestige from the inside out.

Although this jet has not been used to transport patients, this one-of-a-kind aircraft can be medically configured for air-ambulance duty and can be converted back and forth easily from air-ambulance to passenger plane in a matter of 30 minutes.

"The Learjet 35 is an excellent example of aviation craftsmanship and technology and we're honored to have it as part of our Palm Beach auction," said Craig Jackson, Barrett-Jackson's Chairman and CEO. "Angel MedFlight shares Barrett-Jackson's passion for restoration and service and this is what sets this offering apart. This is an excellent opportunity for our bidders and I can't wait to see the plane go up for sale."

Angel MedFlight decided to sell this airplane at Barrett-Jackson after mounting a demonstration of its aircraft and services at the Scottsdale auction in January. The Learjet 35 was part of the company's display, with visitors allowed to look inside. While on-site and after seeing the collector car auction in action, the company concluded that Barrett-Jackson would be the best venue for selling the aircraft.

"The one-of-a-kind condition of this jet is really a sight to see," said Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson. "It's evident Angel MedFlight shares the same classic enthusiasm we do and the finished product is a testament to that enthusiasm."

Interested bidders can visit the Angel MedFlight shuttle station located on-site near the auction block, where they can ask questions and discuss the restoration of the aircraft. Angel MedFlight will also provide interested bidders with a luxury shuttle and V.I.P. tour of the aircraft at Palm Beach International Airport. Private tours and media tours can be made with Jennifer Vogel 480-440-0485.

"We felt that this plane has a story similar to a lot of the beautiful classic cars you see at Barrett-Jackson -- it's taken lots of time, energy and passion to restore it, and now it's ready to be offered up for sale at one of the greatest auctions in the world. It just happens to be an airplane," said Brandon Kearns, director of operations for Aviation West Charters, Angel MedFlight's parent company.

The 11th annual Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction is scheduled to take place at the South Florida Fairgrounds, April 4-6, 2013. Approximately 400 classics, exotics, muscle cars, hot rods, resto-mods and contemporary collectibles are scheduled to cross the block.

SPEED will broadcast more than 18 hours of live, high-definition TV coverage of the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction Thursday, April 4th - Saturday, April 6th. TV coverage on Saturday, April 6th will be broadcasted on FOX Sports Networks from 1pm - 4pm, with live streaming of the event available on SPEEDTV.com. Check local cable listings for details.
