Queensland, Australia: Aircraft and pilot go missing on Glass House Mountains tour

An ultralight aircraft and its pilot are missing after setting out for a tour of the Glass House Mountains.

A police search of the region has so far failed to find any trace of the plane or its pilot.

The aircraft left Caboolture about 9.15am and was expected to travel to the Glass House Mountains.

A report was received by police around 12.30pm after the sole occupant of the aircraft, a woman in her fifties, failed to return.

An aerial search was commenced utilizing six helicopters and a fixed wing aircraft.

A number of four-wheel-drive vehicles were also utilized in a ground search that was conducted until light faded this evening.

The search will resume Monday morning at first light.
