B1 Bomber Fuselage Portland to Seattle by Truck

September 8, 2012 by SomethingsInMyEye

The B1 bomber fuselage is being trucked from Portland International Airport to Boeing Field in Seattle and is 131 feet long, more than 29 feet wide and 15 feet high. Scheduled to depart PDX at 11:30PM, this railfan used to waiting for late trains chucked with the waiting airfans who complained of the plane being late. Just before 1:00AM we see flashing lights up Airport Way and it takes five minutes for the whole convoy of fuselage, escorts, and support vehicles to make the ramp to I-205 north. This bike path bridge over the on-ramp must be among the lowest of overpasses along the route to clear.
