Cafe chain pulling out of airport

A COFFEE giant is pulling out of Doncaster’s Robin Hood Airport.

The Free Press understands that staff from Costa Coffee were called into a meeting with bosses and told both the branch in the arrivals and departure lounges would be closing but their jobs would be saved by moving them into nearby stores.

The branches will close at the end of April.

A spokesman for the airport said: “Airports often see changes in operators based on site with some moving on over time and others joining.

“They have chosen not to renew their contract at the airport and we are currently in the process of finding a new operator to provide a similar service.”

It is the latest blow for the airport which has struggled to maintain big name businesses since opening in 2005, with many operators pulling routes.

Easyjet started offering flights from Robin Hood Airport from April 2010, but pulled out by January 2011.
