Sir Douglas Bader's logbook auctioned

Sir Douglas Bader's log book - including the entry that recounts the famous crash that cost him his legs - has gone under the hammer. The legendary pilot destroyed 22 enemy aircraft in the Second World War and was awarded the distinguished flying cross despite losing both his legs during training in 1931. The log book entry for the day of the crash contains the entry "bad show." After some confusion during the auction, it eventually fetched £23,500.
