TSA to blame in death of teen stowaway

MILTON, Mass. -- The House Committee on Homeland Security said the TSA is to blame in the death of 16-year-old Delvonte Tisdale, who allegedly was a stowaway in the wheel well of an airplane.

Tisdale’s body was found in Milton. It is believed that he fell to his death from the wheel well of the plane.

Officials said it was too easy for him to hop the fence at the airport and sneak onto the airplane.

“The lack of adequate perimeter security could, in worst case scenarios, result in individuals with nefarious purposes accessing secure airport areas by simply climbing over a fence, in some cases overcoming even less of a barrier. This region has witnessed firsthand the devastating results that inadequate airport fencing can lead,” said Rep. Bill Keating of Massachusetts.

Officials said Tisdale hopped the fence in North Carolina and stowed away on an airplane bound for Boston. He fell to his death during the plane’s decent over Milton.
