TEHRAN – Air Force starts the second stage of Defenders of the Skies of Velayat 3 war game, employing the Sa’eqeh, F4, F5 jet fighters, Brigadier General Hossein Chitforoush announced on Saturday.

Iranian fighter jets, including the Sa’eqeh (thunderbolt), carried out hundreds of sorties during the war game and dropped high-tonnage smart and precision-guided bombs on mock targets.

The Sa’eqeh is a single-seater fighter jet. It is the second generation of the Azarakhsh fighter. Sa’eqeh fighter planes were first tested successfully in September 2007. The Sa’eqeh is a joint product of the Iranian Air Force and the Defense Ministry.

The initial stage of the aerial war game focusing on offensive tactics started on Tuesday in northwest Iran.

Chitforoush also said that the technical C130 aircraft is also being used in the drill.

In the initial stage of the war game, Air Force planes transported military personnel and equipment from nine air bases of the Air Force to the northwest of the country, where the main stages of the aerial maneuver took place.
