New Springfield MO Airport Director Takes the Reigns: Springfield-Branson National Airport (KSGF), Springfield, Missouri.

(Springfield, MO) -- The Springfield-Branson National Airport officially has its new director at the helm.

Brian Weiler was announced as Gary Cyr's replacement in June. Cyr retired in April.

Weiler began his new job on Monday and he's the fifth director in the airport's 66-year history.

Weiler used to work for the Missouri Department of Transportation and has managed airports in Kansas, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Florida.

He's starting just as the airport is about to undergo a runway repaving project. It will shut down the facility from August 12-15, 2011.

On Monday, the Missouri Public Transportation Association gave Weiler its Friend of Transit Award for his commitment to public transportation during his tenure at MoDOT.
