Army Special Forces Helicopter Crashes On Ft. Benning

COLUMBUS, Georgia -- Officials are investigating a helicopter crash at Fort Benning that resulted in the loss of one life and multiple injuries on Monday, reports the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer today. 

According to the report, the accident occurred during a training exercise around 4:15 p.m. in an undisclosed location on the post. Officials are not releasing the name of the victim or unit involved until family is notified. 

WTVM is also reporting that the helicopter was not a Fort Benning aircraft. 

This week, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning is joined by 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment from Fort Campbell, Ky., and the Air Force Special Operations Command at Hulbert Field in Florida for training, which is scheduled to last until Aug. 19, according to an additional report by the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer today
