LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Seven people were injured after a tour helicopter crashed coming back from the Grand Canyon, on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The Boulder City Fire Department responded to a hard landing of a tour helicopter at the Boulder City Municipal Airport.

Officials said a tour helicopter was returning from a routine trip to the Grand Canyon with one pilot and six passengers on board.

For reasons unknown, the helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing.

The Boulder City Fire Department arrived and determined all seven people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Sunrise Hospital and Siena Hospital for treatment.

Boulder City officials said the National Transportation Safety Board has been contacted and will handle the investigation to follow protocol with aircraft incidents.

  1. Appears to have hit fairly hard. Whatever the cause, good to hear nobody appears to have suffered catastrophic injuries.

  2. I'm glad there were no serious injuries. Emergency followed by a hard landing, the height/velocity diagram springs to mind but there are other possible scenarios too.
