On July 20, 2019, about 6:20 central daylight time, a Cessna 175 airplane, N7013M, impacted terrain shortly after takeoff from Kilgore Airport (4TX6), Kilgore, Texas. The airplane was privately owned and operated. The pilot, the sole occupant, was seriously injured, and the airplane received substantial damage. The airplane was operated under 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. Day visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed for the local flight.

The airport owner reported he saw the accident airplane taxi to the south end of the grass runway airport and perform a "normal pre-flight run-up." He explained the airplane began a fast taxi, and then he lost sight of the airplane due to the trees along the north third of the runway. He then heard the airplane's engine "accelerate, then slow, then increase again, followed by the sound of an impact." The airport owner got into his vehicle, drove south on the on the runway and observed the airplane, nose down, halfway down the runway, 100 feet east of centerline in a restricted area.

KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - Kilgore police and fire units are on the scene of a plane crash.

According to a Facebook post from the Kilgore Police Department, the crash happened near the intersection of Airport and Norris Road.

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety say the sole occupant of the plane was taken to Good Shepard Medical Center in Longview with non-life threatening injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been made aware of the crash.
