No one was injured Friday morning when a small airplane ran off the runway at Yeager Airport in Charleston.

The airplane made a successful landing just after 6 a.m. Friday, and it was turning off the active runway onto a taxiway when the pilot undershot the turn and ran off the taxiway, said Dominique Ranieri, director of marketing at the airport.

Ranieri said the incident was minor and didn’t affect operations at the airport.

There were two adults on the airplane, which appeared to only have superficial damage, she said. A wing of the airplane clipped a sign along the runway, but no substantial damage was reported.

As a precaution, the plane was towed from the runway to a hangar for further inspection for damage, Ranieri said.
