Air National Guard conducts first 'Reaper' flight over Fargo

FARGO (KFGO) - The North Dakota Air National Guard's new unmanned aerial vehicle has taken to the skies over Fargo.

The remotely-operated MQ-9 "Reaper" is the first new aircraft flown by the happy hooligans since the 1950's.

Air National Guard spokesman David Lipp says the first flight was conducted Tuesday and went very smoothly.  The reapers are not flying on a regular schedule yet, but Lipp says more training flights will be added in the future.

Lipp says for the time being, the reaper's flight path will be limited to a special pattern over Hector International Airport.
