Frontier Airlines Cuts Most Routes from Trenton-Mercer Airport (KTTN) for Winter

Starting in early January, passengers flying out of Trenton-Mercer Airport will only be able to travel to four Florida destinations, at least for the winter.

The airline will only offer non-stop service to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and West Palm Beach.

Minneapolis service has been cut permanently, a spokesman told Planet Princeton.

“All of Frontier’s winter flying from Trenton will be to Florida, where demand increases this winter,” Frontier Spokesman Jim Faulkner said. “The other cities will return next spring.”

Faulkner said the airline is still determining the date for the return of the other 17 routes.

Frontier is currently the only commercial carrier at the Trenton-Mercer Airport. Along with other low-cost carriers, Frontier has recently been under fire for cost-cutting measures that include charging extra for carry-on bags and snacks, and increasing baggage fees for the holiday period.

A report from the Federal Aviation Administration covering the 12-month period ending March 31 of 2015 shows Trenton-Mercer serving 394,815 passengers. -
