Wing walker among new acts booked for Sands Lehigh Valley Airshow: Lehigh Valley International Airport (KABE), Allentown, Pennsylvania

A wing walker will be among the new acts performing at this year's Sands Lehigh Valley Airshow Aug. 23-24 at Lehigh Valley International Airport.

The airport this week announced the booking of Gene Soucy and Teresa Stoke. The act involves Soucy flying his ShowCat biplane while Stoke climbs about the wings, the airport says in a news release.

Other new additions to this year's installment have already been announced. In March, LVIA said the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association planned to bring a team. The Harvards, known in the U.S. as T-6 Texans, flew training missions during World War II.

Some acts that were popular at last year's inaugural show are returning. The Misty Blues, an all-women's skydiving team, has already committed to another year. And the 4CE Formation Aerobatic Team, a 4-plane civilian demonstration team, also is coming back.

"The 2013 airshow was very successful and our goal is to make 2014 even more enjoyable for the community," Charles Everett Jr., executive director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, the agency that runs LVIA, says in a statement.

Everett notes that more announcements are planned. He says he's optimistic the airshow will be able to get military fly-bys this year.

Last year, no military aircraft participated because of the federal government sequestration that has since been lifted.

"This year's performer lineup is the first step, and with the lifting of the sequestration, we hope to have a combination of military fly-bys and static aircraft as well," he says.

Gate times, ticket prices and exhibitor schedules for the airshow are still being worked out.
