United flight to DC returns safely to Albany International Airport (KALB), New York

ALBANY — Authorities say a regional jet bound for Washington turned back to Albany after smoke was reported in one of the restrooms.

Doug Myers, spokesman for Albany International Airport, says United Flight 3739 landed safely. The emergency was reported just after 3:30 p.m. Friday.

There were no injuries among the 65 passengers and crew who were headed from Albany to Dulles International Airport.

Myers says a smoke detector in one of the restrooms triggered. Investigators are trying to determine the source of the smoke.
