Two military aircraft collided in the air in Venezuela during a demonstration flight. One of the pilots was killed.
The tragedy occurred on Thursday near Libertador military air base in the state of Aragua, reports NTV.
Two light attack aircraft, OV-10 Bronco, collided in the sky. The
flight instructor of one of the aircraft died as he was taking the plane
from the settlement on the ground. Two other pilots managed to eject
themselves, Korrespondent.net reports.
The deceased pilot was a major of
Venezuelan Air Force. President Hugo Chavez, who also serves as the
commander-in-chief of Bolivarian Armed Forces, expressed deep
condolences to the families and friends of the killed officer.
Investigation has been filed into the incident, KM.ru said.
A similar accident occurred in Pakistan
in May. In the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhw, two training planes of
Pakistan Air Force - MFI-17 Mushshak - collided in the air. Four pilots
were killed. After the crash, one of the planes fell on a house,
injuring a girl and an elderly man. The second aircraft crashed into the
field.
