A light aircraft crash landed in bushland near Jandakot Airport after experiencing engine trouble on Friday morning

The single engine Piper Cherokee aircraft had just taken off when it experienced engine trouble and lost all power.

The pilot attempted to land the aircraft safely however it crash landed in a bush area within the Jandakot Airport boundaries.

Police were alerted to the incident about 8.20am.

The 82-year-old pilot and a 70-year-old passenger escaped without injuries and a 68-year-old man was taken to Fremantle Hospital by ambulance with injuries.

The aircraft has significant damage and police are currently speaking with the pilot and passenger who are still at the scene.

The plane, piloted by an 82-year-old man, crash-landed about 8.20am.

The pilot attempted to land the aircraft safely however it came down in bush within the Jandakot Airport boundaries.

There were three people on board, the pilot, a 70-year-old man and the 68-year-old who was taken by ambulance to Fremantle Hospital for treatment.

The extent of his injuries is not known.

There was no fire after the crash, but the aircraft was badly damaged.

Police and emergency services responded along with on site emergency responders.

Police Air Wing are speaking with the pilot and passenger who remained at the scene after the crash.

A man has been rushed to hospital after a plane lost power and crashed shortly after takeoff at Perth's Jandakot Airport.

The 82-year-old pilot and a second passenger both escaped unharmed from the single-engined Piper Cherokee aircraft, which landed in bushland a short distance from the runway.

The injured passenger, a 68-year-old man, was taken to Fremantle Hospital by ambulance.

Police aviation officers are speaking to the pilot about the incident, which happened at 8.20 (WST) this morning.

The aircraft sustained significant damage but did not catch fire.
