Hopkinton, Massachusetts: Flown to safety

HOPKINTON —  The Greyhound Friends dog shelter in Hopkinton took in a new furry friend this week - Nova the greyhound, flown in from West Virginia through the pet rescue organization Pilots N Paws.

Nova was among several animals seized by authorities as a result of humane cases regarding serious neglect, and nursed back to health by volunteers at West Virginia's Cabell-Wayne Animal Shelter.

When volunteers first pulled Nova, she weighed 32 lbs., half of what she should have been. Nova's temperature also climbed to 106.6, which is nearly fatal.

Volunteers have watched Nova transform from being very sick, broken, and on death's door to playful and healthy.
