More than 2,000 attend airport job fair

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. —  Thousands of job seekers lined up at a job fair Monday for a chance to work at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Channel 2's Amanda Cook went to the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, where more than 2,000 people showed up within the first hour of the first day of the fair.

"Early bird catches the worm," attendee Esprita Attigah told Cook.

The fair is promising nearly 1,000 jobs, many of which will be for the new international terminal. Because of a massive overhaul of the airports concessions, more than 500 current airport employees will be laid off at the end of this month.

"I'm one of the ones who will be laid off," Marquita Cossey said.

She said the lines wouldn’t stop her from a chance to be rehired.

"Oh, I'm not worried. I'm going to have one. The Lord [is] going to bless me. I put all my faith and trust in him, so I don't worry," she said.

The job fair is scheduled to end at 4 p.m. and resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
