Public invited to comment on Salem Airport Master Plan

What does the future hold for the development of Salem Airport? The City of Salem has set a public meeting to seek feedback from the public on the draft Airport Master Plan.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Airport Terminal Building, 2990 25th Street SE.

Last updated in 1997, the new Airport Master Plan provides a vision and roadmap for development of the site over the next 20 years. Salem City Council will consider the draft Master Plan at a public hearing on at their regularly scheduled meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in cuncil chambers at Salem City Hall, 555 Liberty Street SE.

The 750-acre Salem Municipal Airport has been a landmark in the community since it was created by voters in 1928. Salem Airport is a hub for corporate, cargo, military and general aviation.

Copies of the draft Master Plan are available for public review at the Salem Library, or may be downloaded from the web (www.meadhunt.com/client/SLE/master-plan.html).
