Barnstable Municipal Airport-Boardman/Polando Field (KHY) Wants Local Artists

Barnstable Municipal Airport is looking for local artists and plans to display its own selection of artwork and artifacts telling the history of aviation on Cape Cod.

Barnstable Municipal Airport Cape Cod artists interested in showing original artwork in the new airport terminal.

This campaign is part of the airport's mission to to bring a "sense of place" reflecting Cape Cod to the terminal and grounds. In addition to local art, the airport already has a special display of the history of aviation on Cape already in the works.

There will be a display of historical artifacts associated with the 1931 record-breaking solo flight of Russell Boardman and John Polando, in a single-engine plane called Cape Cod, according to a release.

Barnstable Municipal Airport was officially named Boardman-Polando Field in 1981 in honor of the airmen and their non-stop flight between New York City and Istanbul, Turkey.

Artists can download a submission form on the Airport's website here or on the Arts Foundation website here.

Paper copies may be picked up in the airport manager's office on the second floor of the new terminal or at the Arts Foundation office.
