FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- Airbus, a unit of European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co. , plans to hire 4,000 employees in 2012, a spokesman told Dow Jones Newswires on Thursday.
The spokesman was responding to an article in the daily Boersen-Zeitung that cited Airbus sources as saying the company would hire 4,000 people next year.
The spokesman declined to say where the new hires would be deployed, and referred to the company's traditional annual New Year's press conference. In 2012, the briefing takes place Jan. 17.
