Tribute Paid To Fatal Air Crash Pilot’s Community Work ( United Kingdom)

A STRATFORD-UPON-AVON sales manager killed when his light aircraft crashed near Peterborough last week was an active worker for the Voluntary Blood Service, a keen motorcyclist and was a member of Warwickshire Reminiscence Action Project (Wrap), supporting older people and carers who work alongside those living with dementia.

Clive Greenaway, pictured, aged 52, had flown alone from Long Marston Airfield when his his red and white machine hit a power cable over the A1 near Sibson Airfield on Friday afternoon. It somersaulted and landed upside down in a field only 200 yards from the Sibson Inn hotel.

A tribute from his partner and family said he used his well-known retro BSA motorcycle combination to deliver blood to hospitals around Stratford following the death of his wife from cancer. He was a careful and experienced pilot.

Mr Greenaway worked with Mike Strophair at Wrap on activities at the Tramway Inn, Shipston Road. Mr Strophair, who runs Forest Fireworks based nearby, said: “He was a great friend and neighbour.”

Mr Greenaway, a sales manager for Caterpillar, had flown long distances on many occasions.
