Two people suffered minor injuries Thursday when the plane they were flying in ran into power lines and crashed into a field in Jefferson, cutting power to the town for about 30 minutes.

The passenger told the Jefferson Fire District that the Cessna plane had just left the Albany airport, said Tammy Robbins, spokeswoman for the Jefferson Fire District. The pilot was trying to land the plane in the field on the 1900 block of Talbot Road Southeast when it collided with the power lines.

When responders arrived at 7:48 p.m., both the passenger and pilot were out of the plane. One of them went to the hospital with elbow pain.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating, Robbins said.
