FAA decides on Friedman Memorial Airport (KSUN), Hailey, Idaho.

HAILEY, IDAHO (KMVT-TV) Earlier this week the Federal Aviation Administration put the proposal to move Friedman Memorial Airport in Hailey on hold indefinitely.

The airport manager in Hailey says the FAA wants the airport to find a more economical solution to building a new airport.

He says advances in technology during the last five years may mean there are new ways to deal with the problems they're still facing.

Friedman Memorial Airport Manager Rick Baird says "They've suspended it because they believe there are cost considerations and wildlife considerations that may make it difficult to achieve the community's goal, which at that time back in '–6 was to get their replacement airport." Baird says the FAA will meet with the airport board in Hailey on September 13th.

He says the FAA will need to explain why they suspended the draft environmental impact statement.

And the problems that the airport will still need to address here.
