Battle Lines Forming Over Aerotropolis China Hub Project. (With Video)

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI - FOX2now.com)— The Missouri legislature goes into a special session September 6th. Among other things, they'll decide the fate of "Aerotropolis," the new name for the China cargo hub project at Lambert Airport. Opponents are speaking out, but the business lobby says, ‘it's a done deal.’”

The controversy is over the $360 million in state tax credits that will be granted to businesses involved in the China hub project. Some say no tax credits should be involved at all. Others are angry that the money for the China hub will come from programs for the poor, the elderly, and veterans.

The legislature will meet to decide whether to grant the tax credits for companies building international cargo warehouse space.

But money for the $360 million in credits would come from other state tax credit programs like help for the elderly and veterans.

Opponents additionally say the whole plan may never fly.
