Walton County Fire Rescue, Florida -

Walton County Fire Rescue EMS assisted City of DeFuniak Springs Fire Department this afternoon after heavy crosswinds caused a plane at DeFuniak Springs Airport to leave the runway.

The pilot was attempting to takeoff at the time and a wind gust caused the Cirrus SR22T GTS G6 platinum to veer hard to the right off the runway.

Fortunately, the pilot was not injured and fuel was not disrupted.

WCFR Paramedics treated the gentleman on scene and made sure he was okay.
