On February 20, 2022, about 1600 central standard time, a Mooney M20C airplane, N6750U, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Crete, Nebraska. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The flight operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight.

According to preliminary information, while departing runway 17 at the Crete Municipal Airport (CEK), Crete, Nebraska, the airplane experienced a total loss of engine power. The pilot performed a forced landing to a bean field. During the landing, the airplane’s wings collided with a fence resulting in substantial damage to the wing spar.

The airplane was retained for further examination.
