DANBURY — A plane landing at Danbury Municipal Airport on Sunday afternoon traveled off the runway and into the grass.

The plane, which was flying in from Ocean City Municipal Airport in Maryland, traveled about 100 feet off the runway when landing around 1:10 p.m. Sunday, according to airport administrator Mike Safranek.

Safranek blamed the rain for the incident.

The two people on board were not injured, and there was no “massive damage” to the aircraft, Safranek said. A tow company was on its way shortly before 5 p.m. to move it off the grass and to its home at Danbury Municipal Airport.

  1. Very soft ground. The tow truck will be lucky if he doesn't/didn't get stuck.

  2. Looking at the weather I’d assume he followed the RNAV into 08. Ceilings looks high enough though to make a visual well above MDA. I flew into this airport dozens of times as an alternate while living in White Plains and using Westchester County as our primary. The company flew a fleet of C90s and 200s To give this pilot some credit, Danbury’s runways are not the best for rain drainage and braking as a consequence. Thankfully no on was injured.
