ORIGINAL: A small plane made an emergency landing on Interstate 59 in Tuscaloosa Saturday afternoon, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Around 4:00 p.m., ALEA said state troopers responded to the scene of a single engine plane that landed near the 70 mile marker heading southbound.

ALEA said the pilot was the only passenger on the plane and was not injured.

ALDOT reported that only the right lane near the landing area is blocked, but drivers are encouraged to use caution when driving through the area.

  1. The PT6 conversion was in 1999. Of course everyone knows the odds of a PT6 failing on its own are extremely low. Will be interesting to find out the cause of this power failure (full feathered prop).
