On October 22, 2019, about 1950 mountain daylight time, a Czech Sport Aircraft Sportcruiser, airplane, N204BF, impacted the ground near Holden, Utah following a total loss of engine power during dark night conditions. The private pilot was not injured. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left wing. The airplane was registered to and operated by Bountiful Flight LLC. as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions were reported at the accident site about the time of the accident, and no flight plan had been filed for the cross-country flight. The flight originated from Provo Municipal Airport about 1730 and was destined for Milford Municipal/Ben and Judy Briscoe Field Airport (MLF), Milford, Utah.

The pilot reported that she was at 11,000 ft mean sea level (msl) when the engine sputtered and then experienced a total loss of power. She noted that the propeller was not wind milling and her attempts to restart the engine were unsuccessful, which resulted in her decision to make a forced landing.

During the forced landing sequence, about 700 ft above ground level, the pilot deployed the airplane's parachute. She stated that the parachute "jolted the airplane up and to the left, and then to the right prior to impact with the ground."

  1. Bountiful Flight has horrible safety and maintenance. They were just in the news because a plane went down in Bountiful, with a CFI and a student. (Of course they blamed it on the CFI). They also had an emergency landing in Ogden. These incidents were all within a year of each other.
