No one was injured when a small airplane crashed in Jackson County Tuesday.

David Poirer of O'Brien, Florida was operating a single engine plane when his plane began to have mechanical issues near the Jackson County Airport, according to the Jackson County Emergency Medical Services release. 

"He was attempting to make an emergency landing, but a strong head wind caused him to crash approximately 50 yards shy of the runway," the release states.

Poirer suffered no injuries and refused transport from the Jackson County EMS.

He was traveling from Athens, Tennessee to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, according to the release. 

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Jackson County EMS, Jackson County Rescue and Jackson County Central Fire Department responded to the scene. 

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
