On March 10, 2018, about 1655 Pacific standard time, a Piper PA-28-180, N6611J, impacted terrain near Montague Airport-Yreka Rohrer Field (1O5), Montague, California. The pilot and two passengers were not injured; the airplane sustained substantial damage. The airplane was registered to an individual and operated by the pilot under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the cross-country flight, which operated on a visual rules flight plan. The flight originated from Rogue Valley International (MFR), Medford, Oregon with an intended destination to Chico Municipal Airport (CIC), Chico, California.

The pilot reported that, after he executed a touch-and go at 1O5, the airplane would not climb. The airplane contacted power lines and subsequently impacted terrain about 1 mile east of runway 33.

· Siskiyou County Sheriff Department

On March 10, 2018, at approximately 5:04PM, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Dispatch received a report of a small plane crash in the area of Montague, California.

SCSO Deputies responded to the area and located a downed aircraft in a field north of the Montague Airport. Power lines knocked down during the crash caused a small vegetation fire that was quickly extinguished by local fire agencies. The three occupants of the plane sustained minor injuries and were released at the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) were notified of the incident and will continue the investigation.
