The Boeing 737-800, performing flight DL-1406, was on its way to Los Angeles from Raleigh, North Carolina, when it had to make the emergency stop. Officials tell us all of the passengers and crew members exited the plane safely.

At this time, it's not known what caused the smoke in the cockpit. Officials didn't say if the pilots suffered from any smoke inhalation.

Delta says it's bringing another aircraft to Colorado Springs Airport to pick up those passengers.
