An airplane headed to Las Vegas was about to takeoff from San Diego International Airport when the pilot spotted smoke from a hydraulic leak Thursday morning, officials said.
Spirit Airlines flight 359 was on the runway when the pilot noticed the problem about 9:05 a.m., airport spokesman Jonathan Heller said.
The plane was towed back to the gate about 10 a.m.
A San Diego Fire-Rescue Department crew cleaned up the spill.
There was no fire and no one was injured, a fire department spokeswoman said.
According to the airport’s website, the flight departed sometime later.
