Lone Star Helicopters and Buena Vista Aviation: Off-duty Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services medic and helicopter pilot makes very special delivery to Houston

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services said one of their off-duty medics and helicopter pilot Special Operations Captain Steve Bush answered a desperate call from Mothers' Milk Bank in Austin Friday evening.

Bush, owner of Lone Star Helicopters LLC., flew from Austin around 5:30 p.m. Friday to deliver eight cases of mother's milk to four hospitals in the Houston area, ATCEMS said.

The hospitals had reached out to Mother's Milk Bank in Austin and said they were in dire need of milk, which could not be delivered by the normal methods. Bush, along with Buena Vista Aviation, made the important deliveries to UTMB at Galveston, Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, LBJ General Hospital and Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital.

Bush returned to Austin around 11:30 p.m., ATCEMS said.

When the Mothers' Milk Bank at Austin placed their desperate call, ATCEMS Special Operations Captain Steve Bush, owner of Lone Star Helicopters LLC., answered the call.

Last night Captain Bush flew out of Austin, Texas around 5:30pm to deliver 8 cases of mother's milk to four Houston, Texas area hospitals. He returned from his mission after 11:30pm only to attend an EMS continuing education class today and will report back to his assigned shift on the ambulance tomorrow.

The hospitals had reached out to Mother's Milk Bank at Austin since they were in dire need of mother's milk that could not be delivered via normal means. 

Steve Bush, Lone Star Helicopters, and Buena Vista Aviation donated their time and equipment to make deliveries to Utmb At Galveston, Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, LBJ General Hospital, and Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital. This mission was no easy task given all of the flight restrictions in the area.
