YOUR SAY: Use smaller planes

OPINION

Robert S. Buick claims I have no grounds to complain about the expansion of the Sunshine Coast Airport (Daily, March 17).

I have lived near the airport for over 20 years. I love the sight and sounds of aircraft.

Another runway would be in excess to requirements. There doesn't seem to be a demand for more flights.

Only this afternoon I saw a 737 jet overfly the runway to go to Brisbane.

Marcoola is not equipped to operate in the rain. It hasn't the necessary landing aids.

If there was the demand to land, those landing aids would have been installed.

We have a very good runway but it wasn't expected to carry such heavy aircraft.

There is a simple answer - use smaller jet aircraft.

My worry about increasing our local infrastructures is our greater tendency to flooding.

Check our Sunshine Coast Council Disaster Hub website. It has all the information you need to know about hazards and their remedies.

A huge new runway could be put in the worry list.
