TUPELO – The company that will be providing air service between Tupelo and Nashville has picked a name and plans to reveal more details of that service later this month.
Corporate Flight Management will be flying its nine-passenger, twin-engine Jetstream planes via its new brand, Contour Airlines, a move that received approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
CFM has hired six employees for Contour in Tupelo. Matt Chaifetz, the company’s CEO, said the start of air service will be announced March 22.
“There are a variety of factors still in play that will determine the exact date (of when service will start),” he said. “It took a little longer than anticipated to get the FAA sign off on the paperwork required to recertify the aircraft as a nine-seat aircraft – down from 19 – but we’ve received that and moved immediately to schedule the press conference.”
CFM has three more positions it’s filling in Tupelo. Those jobs can be viewed on the careers page of www.flycfm.com.
The schedule for service between Tupelo and Nashville will include five flights daily on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; four flights on Tuesday; three flights on Saturday and four flights on Sunday. The times of those flights will be released at the March 22 press conference.
The company will be paid for the Tupelo-Nashville service through the federal Essential Air Service program, which will pay the airline $4,292,405 a year for two years.
