New Pittsburgh flights could help Bradford Regional Airport (KBFD), McKean County, Pennsylvania

SMETHPORT (EC) — Announcements by two low-cost airlines about flights originating from Pittsburgh International Airport could be good news for Sun Air Express passengers departing from Bradford Regional Airport.

Since March 2015, Sun Air Express has had low-cost daily flights from Bradford to Pittsburgh.

On Thursday, Allegiant Airways announced new service to Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport in Georgia from Pittsburgh with fares as low as $39.

Additionally, Denver-based Frontier Airlines is beginning service to five new destinations, including Atlanta, Chicago O'Hare, Denver, Las Vegas and Orlando starting in June with fares from $59.

"These new cities, coupled with low cost fares, have the potential to positively impact our enplanements out of Bradford," said Alicia Dankesreiter, airport manager. "With our low fares to Pittsburgh, passengers will be able to affordably connect with such popular vacation spots as Vegas, Orlando and Denver. Atlanta and Chicago may also work out well for business travelers. Anytime Pittsburgh adds destinations, it's a good thing for rural airports like ours who fly there."
