Dyess airman killed in vehicle crash south of Abilene, Texas

ABILENE, Texas -

According to the 7th Bomb Wing Public Affairs Office, a Dyess airman assigned to the 7th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was killed in a vehicle accident at FM 89 and CR 653 southwest of Abilene early Sunday morning.

Department of Public Safety officials are investigating and have not yet released a statement outlining what caused the accident.

The airman, whose identity will be released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

7th Bomb Wing Commander Col. Bob Starr expressed his sympathies for the airman's family.

"Whenever we lose an Airman from Dyess, it is felt across the base and the Big Country," Starr said. "Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the family members and friends who grieve the loss of this airman today."
