Lewiston-Nez Perce County Airport (KLWS) board fires manager

The Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport authority board voted to remove airport manager Bruce MacLachlan from his position following an executive meeting this morning.

Board Chairman Chris Hayes confirmed that MacLachlan had been relieved of his position, and that details of the decision would be released later this afternoon.

MacLachlan, who is currently on vacation, said that he just heard about his firing and did not yet feel he was in a position to comment.

The five members of the airport authority board voted unanimously to appoint MacLachlan as manager following a series of interviews in April 2014. He had previously served as operations and maintenance manager at South Bend Regional Airport in Indiana.

He replaced prior manager Robin Turner, who had served in the position for 30 years.

In a May 2014 Tribune interview, MacLachlan had said that he planned to stay with the airport for at least another 12 years to avoid uprooting his family.
