If flight training keeps you awake, call the Navy

LETTER: Stop grumbling among yourselves and complain to the Navy at 855-628-9247.

I am writing concerning the aircraft noise in the Wallops area. Many people are aware of and affected by the flight training going on at Wallops Flight Facility. The planes fly day and night, hours on end, until midnight — and on one occasion until 2:15 a.m.

They currently use the east/west runway. The use of this runway affects hundreds of working men and women who have to get up and go to work each day, and also hundreds of school age children who would perform better in class if they had a good night sleep.

What most people don’t know is that there is a north/south runway. If the Navy used this runway the noise effect would be much less than the current arrangement.

But an environmental impact study was conducted prior to this program and birds and geese won out over humans.

Through a number of channels, I have obtained the phone number which you can call to voice your complaints. This number is by no means a secret, it’s posted on Facebook.

If you or your loved ones have been affected by aircraft noise at Wallops Flight Facility, call the Navy at 855-628-9247 and voice your complaint.

Stop grumbling among yourselves and call the number.
