Volunteers and Pilots Prepare for Rockford Airfest

ROCKFORD- The chalets are set up. And the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds prepare. 

"This year the Rockford Airfest will be perhaps the best air show in all of North America," said Aerobatic Pilot Michael Goulian.

Aerobatic pilots like Goulian practice their routines getting ready for Rockford Airfest 2014.

"All of my passion for everything that I do comes out in the flying, so it's really very exacting, very precise and really it's exactly what the people want to see," explained Goulian.

Static aircraft display owners like Stealth for Kids USA Owner Richard Crupi are also gearing up. Crupi built an F-117 replica for kids six years ago.

"Today, I have volunteered to do free pictures for Make a Wish children and the parents just the look in their eye when they get their children in that airplane, it's worth the whole Airshow to me," said Crupi.

More than 120,000 people are expected to attend Rockford Airfest 2014 between Saturday and Sunday.

Chicago Rockford International Airport Deputy Director Amy Ott is happy the show is taking off this year. "We are so excited to bring Rockford Airfest 2014 back to the Rockford region and we hope everybody can show up," said Ott.
