Experimental aircraft makes dicey but safe landing at New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport (KEVB), Florida

A small, experimental aircraft made an emergency landing Sunday morning at New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport without the benefit of its landing gear, a police spokeswoman said.

"The front landing gear didn't go down, so officially it was a crash-landing," said New Smyrna Beach police Sgt. Valerie Joyce. "There were no injuries."

The Fire Department was at the airport at 10 a.m. near U.S. 1 when the call for an emergency landing was made, she said.

Neither the pilot's name nor the make or model of the plane was available Sunday afternoon.
