St. Cloud’s costs to stage this summer’s scheduled air show shouldn’t be as high as in 2010.
Mayor
Dave Kleis said much of the planning done for the 2010 show will be
used to organize this summer’s show and won’t have to be redone.
“A lot of things don’t have to be reinvented,” he said.
The
U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels precision flying team will return July 20-21 to
St. Cloud Regional Airport to headline the show. The Central Minnesota
Council of the Boy Scouts of America will be putting on the event. The
group will be required to pay for all city-incurred costs.
Townsquare
Media backed the 2010 show. In 2010, St. Cloud received about $161,000
to pay for city services used for the air show. Those costs included
improvements made to the airport, officer time to staff the event and
time spent to plan for the event.
More than 70,000 people attended the air show in June 2010.
Kleis
said the city will have a contract with the Boy Scouts to make sure all
city costs are covered. The city had a similar contract with Townsquare
Media.
